Don't mistake the past for a utopia. Don't mistake the present for the limit of human civilization.

Fully agreed, the world is shitty, it used to be shittier... and I pray that it gets less shitty tomorrow, and we need to do everything we can to not slide back and revive the shittiest parts of our history.

And its good that many or most still realise its not on a good trajectory, better to know than be blinded.

I've frequently felt we're on the verge of a pretty decent eutopia; Maybe not a completely perfect world, but a much better one, where none may needlessly suffer and all receive the help and aid they need.
