Is he dead or just resting and questioning his life choices?

I assume the first, as his head was basically hitting a wall with at least 50 km/h. So if he's not dead, but laying there, regretting his life choices, it's not intentional, but because he is paralysed down from the neck.

His shoes stayed on though.
