Swimming is a basic skill everybody should have.
- Plenty of basic skill everybody should have though. But i agree , no need to swim like an athlete but at least floating in slightly moving water is very important.
- Swimming lessons are mandatory where I live.
  
  I was lucky and had 2 of my 3 schools growing up be right beside a swimming pool. They sometime took us there for our gym classes.
