With most tabletop games produced overseas, many in China, the impact could be devastating. Developers and publishers are sounding the alarm.
I mean... chase short-term cost-cutting....
Boardgames are customised and low quantity products that can't really be manufactured efficiently anywhere else. It's hardly practical for publishers to pay 2-3 times the cost to have them produced elsewhere.
I wonder how the world managed to keep on turning when the Chinese weren't manufacturing everything
Nobody said it's impossible. The retail price of boardgames will just double to triple. Which will then cause the market to shrink, demand to fall, and even less economies of scale. Just what we want for the hobby.
I'd rather a niche hobby suffer than keep enriching an authoritarian state, but hey... I guess your amusement is important.
I despise Trump just like the average Lemmy user, but there are more important things to worry about.
Way to be a holier-than-thou jackass 🙄
It's a simple reasoning, but way to be a reddit-style contrarian
Weirdly that's exactly the reason I don't buy American-made products.
Fair enough, I'm from the country with the second-highest industrial output in the EU, I can only hope this whole affair helps us somewhat.
So you agree to boycott American Products? Great!
