  • So we updated to 0.18, less than 30mins later already had 120 bots already signed up. Wish we didn't have to turn on applications on :(

    But custom emoji is going to be fun

    • It's disappointing to see, 0.18.1 will add bot-check back.

    • Yeah, 0.18 really helps with server federation timeouts but no captcha is insane. Can you just disable signups temporarily until the next version is out?

      • Technicality we could ... But I don't want to disable it until the captcha is decided on and created.

    • How do actually identify bots? I know there is a box you can check to indicate a bot, but if that does not get checked is there a way to tell if the account gets used by bots?

      • Technically no. You have to do some analysis on the user account activity, if the always upvote one user or only post the same domain etc
