To my understanding some prefer MPV because it's just a video player and that is it. I prefer it for phone use.
VLC I think is way too feature for a video player, for some. I use that on my laptop.

Hey one doubt, if I use VLsub (View -> VLsub) for fetching subtitles, would my IP get revealed? Or do they proxy?

I use that as well. I doubt they proxy but I am not sure.
If you use a VPN of course, you are good.
