Cold war era East Berlin wasn't particularly bad when it came to public services to be fair.
Yeah, all you needed to do to get three hots and a cot is say you don't like the government, and these guys just show up and give you a ride.
It's entirely possible to condemn an oppressive regime without pretending their trains were bad too.
