You can't even consider that this is a group of proletariat responding to the abusive and desperate material conditions forced upon them by a foreign, imperialist, genocidal, fascist ethno state that is backed by Western armies and liberal politicians. All you can come up with is "Muslim bad. Iran is Muslim, also bad." It turns out, when you invade a land that has naturally formed a cohesive society around a central religion, generally the people who fight back are members of the religion. It has nothing to do with their desire for survival. It's just the easiest thing to organize around.
