French spelling of his name, he himself used it when writing in French, and that how he was registered when he lived in France and Switzerland. His pseudonym also had French version which he himself used, as read in the second screen: "Lenine" (even though the pic is hilariously wrong).

Yeah it's not him. "Lenin" here is also not Lenin, not to mention he wasn't named "Nikolai". Trotsky looked like this:
