Using this meme format doesn't make sense. Why would he need to explain that?
But yeah I play GURPS so I'm none of these people.
I play GURPS so I’m none of these people.
I play Rifts, so I'm all of them.
Oh boy, playing RIFTS as my first go as a GM (aka DM) was how I learned to play by the rule of cool and come up with challenges/stories that weren't directly dependent on character power levels. So much fun to be had with a mix of MDC and SDC characters, dimension hopping, and I also loved reading the expansion books for the over the top flavor text and inspiration.
Tried out other games to reduce complexity but still kept at least one of the expansion books for inspiration.
Keep playing D&D, but see if you can also find a Vampire: The Masquerade group: these are your people, friend!
I try to play different clans, but always come back to Malkavian.
I just really hate goblins
Had a friend who was outed in college for exactly this reason. A couple of the other out folks at the table kinda pulled them aside and insisted they come out clubbing with them. They were fully out of the closet by the end of the semester.
Has this meme been remastered? I swear it looks like a filter or ai upscaling have been applied
I see what you mean.
I GM for the free snacks.
Reminds me of when I ended up playing a changeling. Five players plus the DM; two players were transgender, and one was non-binary. We were going around the table introducing our characters. They had all finished, and I was last. Notably, when I introduced my character, I didn’t bother saying their pronouns. One of the other players asked, and I just deadpanned “Changeling…”
The collective lightbulb moment was like that one scene in 22 Jump Street. All three of them took a beat, then immediately crashed out when they realized the straight cis dude was the one playing a changeling, and that they hadn’t thought of it first.
I spent 23 years role playing as a guy. I'll be damned if I ever play an RPG as a male character ever again.
I play dnd to set up a good torturous moral hypothesis to observe how my players react :P
And testing out fun game concepts on a free audience for my game dev while getting paid in snacks and grass :D
You guys play D&D? I thought people only ever played the Scheduling Conflict game.
I've almost got enough people that I'm thinking about running a cycling game. Thinking about something Warehouse 13 or Stargate style where each session will be a mission. I'll have players sign up for which mission they're available and they'll be the "away team". I'm hoping it reduces the scheduling nonsense.
I’ve run a game like that, and it worked well. The in-game lore was that everyone was part of a startup mercenary guild, and the adventure of the week was basically whichever characters had accepted that particular job posting. Nine players total, but we never had more than five at the table at the same time. It helped hand-wave away a lot of the “why is only half of the party here” stuff, because we could just say they were on other jobs, working on administrative stuff for the guild, or doing their own personal stuff.
Then the larger plot was largely focused on the intra-city politics that go into starting a new guild. All of the “you need to curry favor with a local powerful figure, because your guild needs something from them” type of stuff. The guild had taken out a rather large loan to get off the ground, so there was always some “enforcers will start breaking things if you stop making money” threat to keep the players focused.
And the individual players didn’t feel a ton of pressure to show up every week, which meant they were actually there because they wanted to be there.
That is the second time I have heard of Warehouse 13 in the past week.
I have been rewatching Eureka because it is one of my favorite shows, and a show I loved I think before Star Trek. What I never knew was that Warehouse 13 was a show that had crossover and existed. Good friend of mine talked about it the other day, so I downloaded it, and when I am done Eureka, I am going to start watching Warehouse 13.
i need to cancel this week. even though i said i was free on wednesdays for the forseeable future, i started making all of my dr appts and work travel be on wednesdays.
HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO US?!??!? Don't you know it's game night??
Just bring your doctor to the session. Do you think he'd play a Cleric?
😭
