So I work at a school doing IT. My kid now goes to the school. I've been out sick recently. I'm back in this past week and I'm walking my kid to class from my office and she sees a para. The para says a nice thing to my kiddo about me bring back to work. Then she rolls into a story, like a funny Ha Ha story about my kiddo. She says "The other day I was telling her [looks at kiddo, says in sing songy voice] that daddy can see you in those cameras! Ha Ha and she tells me 'Well my daddy isn't here today!' Ha Ha she's so cute." Then she wishes my kiddo a good day. I laugh and walk on but also am thinking "wtf did she just say!?".
So I clarify with my kiddo, and my kid tells me that when she said "your dad can see you on the cameras" she was trying to get her to behave on the playground.
So now I'm super pissed for a whole host of reasons. This intersects me personally AND professionally. For starters if I was using the cameras to snoop on anyone I'd loose my job flat out. But I also fucking fully hate the idea that this para is weaponizing the security system to get kids to behave. Something I don't even do at home.
I told my kid that of anyone tells her in watching her on the cameras that she should tell them that im not doing that, and I would never do that.
Going to have a conversation with my boss on Monday because this isn't the first thing I've noticed like this either.
