I don't generally like watching stuff, as I'm more of a reader, but watched Fantastic Planet recently with friends remotely, and I really liked the animation, and generally trippy vibes. Definitely improved by having a group to go "WTF is going on???" with. Would recommend if people are in an artsy mood!

• idk, probably Seasons 2-10 of the Simpsons. The last anime I watched I liked was Dorohedoro.

• I'm probably not neurodivergent as I am a tired broken piece of shit. I mostly stick to watching animated stuff instead of live action. I don't know the last live action show I finished, maybe lost. The only content I can't handle is when family members get into arguments. Like I stopped watching Rick and Morty when there was the episode about Morty going through a bad break up

Image I used for the thread kinda gives it away, but Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Castle in the Sky, and Princess Mononoke are probably my 3 favorite animated films of all time.

What’s your current favorite cartoon/anime/animation?

Western is probably Infinity Train or Over The Garden Wall. A lot of Western animation still tends to be heavily influenced by the "for children" belief that everything needs to be sanitized, but these shows do great work in revealing different types of maturity that can exist outside of gore and sex while still being pretty family friendly overall. Unfortunately, even these boundary pushes end up facing a lot of issues considering Infinity Train's issues with renewal.

Anime is probably Baccano or Girls Last Tour. Baccano is just a really interesting world with lots of deep characters and a unique storytelling style and premise and Girls Last Tour is just so chill and nice to watch overall.

What was your favorite cartoon/anime/animation growing up?

Probably Digimon overall, but I also really liked shows like Recess/Phineas and Ferb/Lilo and Stitch. Honestly with my memory of a lot of these shows being vague it's hard to actually pick a favorite.

What styles of animation do you like/dislike?

I like experimental and weird animation styles the most, and the things I hate the most are shows like big mouth and family guy ripoff style.

Does you neurodivergence effect the way you experience animated film/video, and is it different from how you experience video/film with real people/objects?

Yes, I mostly prefer animation over live action since it's easier to get a read on characters and emotions. I still love many live action shows of course tho.
