I love the government announcing things that were already crimes are still crimes.
It was illegal to own one? I understand using it or carrying in public, but literally owning one???
Using it is illegal, carrying it in public is cringe.
Carrying it in public can mean literally displaying it in your front yard in many jurisdictions, so I don’t really agree with your assessment.
Katana are for courtyards; front yards should be festooned with the bamboo pikes of the ashigaru
That's a pretty dumb legal definition. Carrying around =/= staying stationary on display.
what about in self defense? or for hunting? things where bow and arrows are already legal for?
for self defense i'd give a very maybe. nobody is gonna try to rob a person who has a sword and the thing is not exactly hideable
also a sword... for hunting? that'll make the person wielding the sword in more danger than the animals themselves
Swords were never used for hunting. Spears are much better.
Bow and arrow are legal for hunting?
in Alaska you can hunt with a bow and arrow in more places than you can use guns, and crossbows everywhere guns are allowed.
