If you read the email, they offer a few solutions to you. One is a credit for a new phone and one is a new battery free of charge. I took the battery since I was going to get it swapped anyway. While they replaced the battery, they also cleaned it up and swapped the back piece. It's not a total refurbish, but it feels like I have a new phone now aside from the fact that Hulu isn't supported and I can't use my NFC reader anymore. Old phone problems I guess. No complaints about the battery yet and should stretch the phone life a while longer. Hopefully someone will release a small phone by then 🤷
Damn, not even 6 years old (from its release date). I've got a 7 that I'd like to try to keep for 7 years. 5 is probably a more realistic number, but I don't see myself needing new features or power for a long time.
You cannot tell the difference visually. They look identical side by side and in my experience feel exactly the same. Perhaps ever so slightly heavier but it is nothing near as bad as what you're implying it is. You make it sound like the 8a is a monster of a phone and that's honestly ridiculous.
