If the protesters crowd around and try to get into my car, or bang on the windows, especially with my children inside, lives will definitely splatter. If they're on the highway, which is illegal anyway, then they will splatter. If they have a permit, on a local street, fine. But that permit doesn't give them the right to encroach on people's property and vandalize cars. Then it becomes self defense.
