What's your default pocket loadout?
I’ve got wallet and lighter front right, phone and cigs front left, and keys on a carabiner tucked into back right. Back left is basically always empty.

front right: wallet + hand towel
keys are clipped to belt loop and also generally tucked into back right.

omg they pick you up with a hand towel? I carried my beach towel my whole life.

I live in a humid subtropical climate. That hand towel does a lot of sweat wiping. Also hand drying after washing hands more rarely in public toilets with no towels/dryer

A towel, it says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have.
A towel has immense psychological value. For some reason, if a strag (strag: non-hitch hiker) discovers that a hitch hiker has his towel with him, he will automatically assume that he is also in possession of a toothbrush, face flannel, soap, tin of biscuits, flask, compass, map, ball of string, gnat spray, wet weather gear, space suit etc., etc.
