Blocking variations.brave.com which is used for A/B testing could potentially break Brave's functionalities. For me did Brave's "forgetful browsing" feature broke which seems to be disabled by default if you block this domain.

You really just shouldn't use brave..
222 20 ReplyCatsrules @lemmy.ml Do you think we are not Brave enough.
Sorry... I will see myself out.

@eya May I ask why you think that? I their afe good reasons to don't use Firefox either...

Brave is an ad company. Use a privacy-centric browser like hardened firefox, librewolf, or ungoogled chromium.
Edit: added a comma

Can we not downvote genuine questions like this? All you do is discourage people wanting to learn and make it harder for people that think differently than you to see arguments against them.
Save the downvotes for rude or bad faith comments.

@IronKrill Thats the same thing I think abt you guys, but alright.

I wasn't sure how to word my reply, but I was referring to all the people downvoting your response and not you. Unsure if that came across.

anothermember @beehaw.org You'd need a very good reason to not use Firefox given that it's all that stands against a Google monopoly on web standards. I was using a Chromium-based browser myself until Opera and Microsoft both abandoned their own browser engines - after that I couldn't possibly justify not supporting Firefox.

I have made an entire post detailing (some) of the reasons why you shouldn't use Brave.

True but don't you think brave is better than chrome?
6 19 Replyhardaysknight @lemmy.world In the same way that I think 3rd degree burns are better than 4th degree burns
27 2 ReplyPossibly linux @lemmy.zip
I think you mean 3rd degree burns compared to second degree burns but I get what you are saying
1 8 Replyhardaysknight @lemmy.world ? 4th degree burn is a real thing
7 0 ReplyPossibly linux @lemmy.zip
True but its basicly the same as 3rd degree burn. You will basicly never see it in the field
1 9 ReplyOneWomanCreamTeam @sh.itjust.works
You mean how chrome and brave are basically the same thing, even if one is technically worse?
7 0 ReplyPossibly linux @lemmy.zip
I don't know anymore

zzzzz @beehaw.org Yes, but when good options exist, why give thought to which bad option is less bad?
2 0 ReplyPossibly linux @lemmy.zip
Because we need less google control. Also brave is pretty user friendly
1 1 Replyzzzzz @beehaw.org Firefox is the good option. It is not controlled by Google.
2 0 Replygwheel @lemm.ee Brave is chromium based, which gives Google control over web standards.

9 1 ReplyZastyion345 @lemmy.ml Didn't they announce that they are source available?

Use a fork of firefox
42 4 ReplyFeelzGoodMan420 @eviltoast.org Or just use firefox?
15 1 ReplyKatlah @lemmy.dbzer0.com
Stock Firefox is almost as bad as Google Chrome
2 3 ReplyFeelzGoodMan420 @eviltoast.org Idk wtf you're saying. You mean stock firefox as in firefox with no settings changed? If so, it's not great but in no way as bad as chrome. That's just a ridiculous statement. That being said, hardened Firefox is fine and it's not very hard to do. By harden i mean common sense tweaks. I don't use arkenfox or anything. I think it's overkill at that point.
1 1 ReplyKatlah @lemmy.dbzer0.com
I wouldn't say arkenfox is overkill. It's the easiest way to get rid of all the spyware that comes with Firefox by default.
2 1 ReplyFeelzGoodMan420 @eviltoast.org What spyware....
