Well she did post a comprehensive explanation about why her Name's Maria now but as you can't change your handle (you would need to make a new one) she changed her display name to reflect it.
I support everyone being called whatever they want but I'm not on here super often so I didn't see the post about the name change and this client doesn't have display names. :(
"Can we not do that please?" is usually read with a passive aggressive tone, especially when you prefix it with someone's name. Instead, something like "Hey, Maria made a post about how she prefers people not refer to her as Smorty anymore. Here's a link to it." Doing it that way carries a positive intent that once informed, someone will do the right thing. I think that aligns with Maria's whimsical and positive vibes as well.
