Bulletins and News Discussion from July 24th to July 30th, 2023 - Venezuela's 4,600,000th House

The Great Housing Mission of Venezuela, launched in 2011 by Hugo Chavez, is the most ambitious housing project in the country's history. This week, the 4,600,000th house was built, with a goal for 5 million homes by 2024 and beyond. The program has built 1,255 residential complexes on a total of 9,837 hectares, an area equivalent to six times the Swiss city of Geneva.

The program additionally provides social infrastructure like schools, subsidized food markets, and recreational and green spaces. Over 70% of constructions are self-managed by communities, with financial and logistics support from the government. Communities also provide each other with materials - from each according to their supplies, to each according to their needs. Russian, Chinese, and Belarusian companies have helped supply the program over the years.

In Antímano Parish in southwestern Caracas, a group of predominantly women came together in 2015 and trained in construction, cleared land, and then built apartments while under the pressure of food and materials shortages and electricity blackouts due to the United States' sanctions campaign.

Claudia Tisoy, a mother and self-trained plumber, said “This goes beyond building homes for our families, we are also building the future of our country, with women leading the way. This is what the socialist horizon is all about.”VA

  • If Russia's goal ends up being the taking of novorussiya we are on a crash course with Moldova getting dragged into the war in some way. Crossing through Palanca to reach the southern tip of Ukraine is the only viable option as the land bridge to Zatoka will be incredibly unsafe and an easy target for elimination. Crossing through Palanca will invade Moldova's territory. There is absolutely no way around this, you either use that land bridge which Ukraine will definitely destroy or you go through Palanca. Blowing that landbridge is the obvious method you would use to prevent Russia easily taking that southern section of land and/or provoking an international incident.

Interestingly I found these polls from February 2023 (now removed from the original site) showing some interesting stats:

If early parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, three political formations would enter the legislature.

    • The Bloc of Communists and Socialists would get the most votes – 26.4%
    • Of the respondents who have the option to vote, 34.4% would vote with BCS
    • PAS – 32.3%
    • the Şor Party – 14.6%

If next Sunday there would be a referendum on accession to the European Union of the Republic of Moldova

    • 51% would vote for it 35% would vote against it
    • 38% would vote for joining the Eurasian Economic Union 39% against.
    • 32% would vote for the union of the Republic of Moldova with Romania, and 57% would vote against it.
    • 62% would vote against joining NATO 24% would vote for it

My interest has been considerably raised since the assassination of our friend in transnistria, I think some investigation and understanding of this region might be valuable in things to come.
