Syria under al-Assad before & during the civil war

I want to learn more about the topic, but everything I see is western bs supporting the current Al-Qaeda regime.

I'm sure you guys also have the same troubles when trying to educate yourselves on such conflicts, so how do you make sure to get a perspective uninfluenced by western bs?
